MEET SOPHIA MOLFETAS
I Love Music and Dance,
singing, performing, creating choreographies, putting musical numbers together for my students, writing poetry and lyrics, and most of all, I love to create, teach and share what I know! I am always learning something new and I share every experience I have in music, theatre, film, and life with my students and clients.
The Artistry of Sophia was brought to realization in 2007 and, to my blessed surprise, it continues to express, explore and achieve quality for my clientele and students, who can learn a variety of subjects, such as Voice, Piano, Acting, Oriental Dance (aka Belly Dance), Dumbek Drum, Flamenco, and Fusion.
“Many years ago, I realized that Energy is in Everything, even in every breath we take.”
I realized that the tools I use with my students in both music and dance are tools to understand how energy works and what the different energy levels in the body are. And it is this knowledge that helped me create one of my most popular offerings, the “Connect Mind, Body and Soul” Energy Work Workshop.
Understanding energy has also helped me to be a better Teacher and a Student, allowing me and my students to discover self-empowerment, creativity, healing, being in the ‘present moment’, and the magic that lives inside the Soul filled with LOVE for the performing arts!
From day one, my motto has been,
“Music & Dance ~ Enrich the Mind and Feed the Soul”
a little more about me
A native of South Florida of Greek-Cyprian descent, I call Miami “home”. I’ve been singing since I was a child, I have a BM in Vocal Performance, and I am proud to say I am an Alumna of UM School of Music, where I studied Opera and Musical Teatre.
I’m a performing artist, singer, actor, dancer, choreographer, poet and lyricist.
I have performed with some of South Florida’s Community and Regional Theatre companies. Blessedly, my last role as “Abuela Claudia” in Measure for Measure’s production of In The Heights received rave reviews. Another blessing, I had the opportunity to perform in my first project as “Amelia” in Mel Mederos’ horror/suspense short film, Mama’s Boy, released in 2023. I performed with Miami Acting Company and the Alhambra Orchestra, a blessed dream to have this opportunity, in two different live performance productions, one as a featured soloist in their Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Classics Concert and the other in their multi-casted characters of West Side Story ~ The Concert, as one of the featured “Anita”, “Maria” and “Doc”; and ensemble/various roles in other productions in South Florida. In dance, I won 3rd Place and the People’s Choice Award in the Starlette category at RakStar 2010’s International Bellydance Competition.
I’ve been a teacher in voice and piano since 2002 and middle eastern and flamenco dance since 2007. I use unique and long-lasting tools to help my students connect with their body and mind, which has helped them succeed in entering magnet programs in both middle school and high school, and also into colleges/universities.
